On this week’s show we start with the latest news on plastic reduction initiatives including updates on Pret A Manger, Wagamama, Costa, Waitrose, Morrisons and Iceland as well as the launch of Plastic Free Scotland.
We then move on to shine the spotlight on Dara McAnulty who has recently won runner up in the BBC Wildlife Magazine Blogger Awards. Dara set up his blog last year because he wanted to get more people interested in the natural world. “With the natural world I can be free, so when I hear things about people destroying it, I get cross” he explains.
We present the volunteer opportunity of the week which is at Play Torbay. They are looking for a friendly, energetic volunteer that can work in a team and the role would suit someone who is happy with a whole variety of clerical jobs to help support the office team.
We then share activities and events happening in the Bay and beyond for people to get involved in, plus an update from Friends of Oldway who are actively seeking ideas for the future of Oldway Mansion.
We move on to talk about chronic pain and how a website entitled A Way With Pain is a valuable resource which is dedicated to providing information and support to those living with chronic pain. A place where people can visit, find comfort and share their experience if they so wish.
On the subject of care we then highlight Give and Take Care which has been created to help alleviate the social care crisis amongst older adults across the UK. This is a CIC which has recently joined http://www.ododow.org – The interactive community map
We close the show with our weekly reflection from Rise Like Air entitled Serendipity
