On this week’s show we share news of an invitation to all Torbay residents to pull on their dancing shoes and get fit and healthy at free classes this autumn at the Pyramid Studios in Torquay.
We go on to share a story which demonstrates the power of nature and how it can improve our mental wellbeing.
David tells us about Wayne Dixon, a gentleman who is travelling the coastline of Britain picking up litter and helping to raise awareness of plastic pollution. We then shine the spotlight on six circular design challenge winners who are playing their part in trying to rethink about our plastic usage and have come up with new ways of doing things.
Following on from a feature on BBC Radio 4 Costing The Earth series, we talk about fashion and how through switching to sustainable cotton and using different materials for creating fabrics, we can lessen our impact on Earth’s resources
While on the theme of buying, we highlight a new shopping mail in Sweden which is part recycling depot, part shopping experience and part education centre.
In the final section of the show we bring listeners attention to World Values Day which is an opportunity for us to think about our most deeply held values and to act on them. We remind people that if we are aware of our values and put them into action each and every day, we can change our lives and change the world we live in.
We close the show with some reflections from the blog Rise Like Air
