Show Highlights August 24 2017

In this week’s show we share our volunteer opportunity of the week which is for a Tour Guide for Torre Abbey – a historic building and art gallery in Torquay and we highlight the upcoming Ageing Well festival on Saturday 30th September at Lupton House, Churston Ferrers.

We talk about the forthcoming International Agatha Christie Festival which Debbie is involved with as a volunteer coordinator.

We bring news of a new hotel booking platform and blog entitled Kind Traveler which empowers travelers to become a force for change that benefits communities, the environment and animals.  According to Cone Communications’ 2017 CSR study, 89% of consumers will switch to a brand that supports a good cause over one that does not, given similar price and quality.

In our section on Conscious Choices, we discuss our intention to move towards a more plant based diet and how we are seeing a rise in the number of platforms showcasing vegetarian and vegan recipes and how the restaurant trade are making their own changes using

We share news of one of the world’s highest profile organisations – Arsenal Football Club and how they have become the first Premier League stadium to source 100% of its electricity needs from renewables, following a year long trial and we encourage other football clubs to follow suit.
