We start the show with the focus on Plastic Free July, a campaign which encourages us all to refuse single use plastics and to discover and use alternatives in our everyday lives
We move onto discuss Independent Bookshop Week and shine the spotlight on two independent bookshops: Torbay Bookshop and Crediton Community Bookshop and discuss the legacy of the Harry Potter novels.
We also share news of the passing of Michael Bond, creator of Paddington Bear and talk about how the inspiration of the story struck.
We finish our section on books by talking about my own discovery of the legacy of Agatha Christie while exploring the bay, starting with the Potent Plants Garden at Torre Abbey which were inspired by the life of the crime writer. Further discoveries came from the launch of The Great Place Scheme which was hosted at Paignton Picture House, a venue where Agatha Christie enjoyed watching films and the upcoming International Agatha Christie Festival due to start in September
Following on from our move to Paignton, we discuss the conscious choices we are making in furnishing our new home which includes exploring having a bed made from reclaimed wood by local craftsmen in Exeter.
We finish off the show with news from 10:10 who share stories of people taking positive action on climate change and encourage listeners to read more at 10:10 to see what’s already happening in the world of renewable energy for the common good.
